Region 4 Announces Recipients of Initial Opioid Settlement Grant for Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Issues
Region 4 is pleased to announce the recipients of our inaugural Opioid Settlement Grant. Following a competitive review process, funding totaling over $400,000 has been awarded to four outstanding projects committed to enhancing services to address substance use disorders and mental health issues across our communities.

- Heartland Counseling Services
- The Connection Project
- The Well
- Oasis Counseling International
These organizations have demonstrated exceptional dedication to addressing substance use disorders and mental health issues through innovative and efficient methods.
Funding Overview This grant cycle, Region 4 received a robust response to our call for proposals, with 10 applications seeking over $1.3 million in funding. The decision process was guided by a rigorous evaluation of each project’s potential to meet urgent community needs, promote efficiency, and introduce innovative solutions in the care for substance use disorders and mental health issues.
The funding, drawn from the opioid settlement’s Exhibit E, is earmarked for several key initiatives:
- Infrastructure Projects: Building and expanding facilities necessary for comprehensive care.
- Expansion of Peer Programs: Enhancing support networks through peer counseling and support services.
- Improved Access to MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment): Increasing availability of critical treatment options for those affected by opioid addiction.
